Why are Christians trapped by this system? Because they have violated one or more scriptural principles that God laid down, particularly those relating to financial bondage. It is important that a Christian understand God’s attitude about debt. Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.” God says that when someone borrows, he becomes a servant of the lender; the lender is established as an authority over the borrower. This should clearly define God’s attitude about borrowing from secular sources to do His work. After all, how many Christian organizations would like to be the servant of a secular banking or financial institution?
